Bluefins Bluefins Bluefins....Saturday was a great day for several with quite a few BF Tuna hook ups and congrats to Mike McCabe and crew of the Red Eye on a Monster 81-1/2" 321# that was taken on GET THIS and UMBRELLA rig. Way to go guys.

Also, congrats to the crew aboard the Rockhound on their 66" 156# BF, I hear this is the 3rd one this year for them on the Tekota 800, can't believe that reel is still winding!!!

WOW, Way to go Bill Fowler on a 252 LB Bluefin caught today. 35' water on a Stretch....what a catch !!Randy tells me that it was a 1-1/2 hour fight..nice job.

It's been a few weeks since we posted, The bite is still in full swing off of the Oceanfront. Yesterday we had several reports that the fish are here in good numbers and they are a nice class of fish at that. Yesterday our good friend Kevin was out on the water and brought home a real nice catch. We have also had reports of whale sightings everyday and YES the Bluefin are still hanging around too. A boat that left our docks the other day weighed a 300# er in. This WX has been great and hope the fish stick around longer. If you need anything to get rigged up, just let us know. We are maintaining regular hours through this season and the fuel docks and weigh station is open.  Way to go Kevin Smith ......A pic is worth 1000 words .... &  Mike Wells,  way to go get em in not so favorable WX on Sunday !!  



Well the 2011 Bay Rockfish season is rapidly coming to an end. It has been a good year with some nice fish caught. Although the last few days the bite was indeed slower on both the troll and the eels, there were a few nice fish caught. If your headed out tonight to kick in the new year while closing out the last few hours of the season, try jigging the pilings of the CBBT, there were some nice fish caught last night on the good old Electric Chicken Assassins. Be safe and we'll check in with you all in 2012. We will be open throughout the 2012 Ocean season so anyone needing tackle, fuel, ice ...etc come on by. Use the public launch here at the shop and avoid the jammed up mess at Crab Creek and Rudee when the conditions are right. The Parking lot here has plenty of room. You can run through the Bay with fish, just don't stop and fish while in possession. Good luck, be safe and we'll see you all in 2012.



It is still too early to say but the eelers and the trollers have made it out today and we expect to get some great reports. Both techniques have been producing nice fish over the last few days. Al B just reported some nice fish on Facebook and a beautiful picture it is. Way to go man, We will try and post an update this evening, we have eels at the shop and are ready to get you rigged up to get you yours before the season in the Bay ends!!



Today was an awesome day on the water, We had the pleasure of fishing aboard the Rockhound with Capt Petey and crew for a "Fun Day" I believe this was the first trip in a long time that Pete, Corey and Robert actually got to fish together and we were happy to join them. The fish at Cape Henry were hungry and we had boated a limit of 12 nice fish by 9:30. Along with our report, we had 4 reports of of BLUEFIN TUNA hooked up right there too. Amazing......simply amazing. One of the boats here at Wallace's fought one for 2 hours on a TLD20 before they lost it........way to hang in there. What a great day



Merry Xmas I hope everyone is having a safe and wonderful Christmas Holiday. Yesterday Rockhound Charters left for the fishing grounds early in the am and found some real nice fish on the Troll. They brought back a limit of 36"-44" fish. This fishing has been great this year and this week should be no exception. Hope everyone has opportunity to get in on the action. Merry X MAS to all.



The Fishing is hot hot hot !!! We had some on the water reports yesterday from Rockhound Charters along with photos of some nice fish and Check out Brian Hogge! Way to go man,THAT IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT ! We just got 250 more EELS in and we are geared up for the next few days. We weighed 7 citations yesterday and had two release papers too. If you can get out there .....GET OUT THERE, If you dont have a boat or means to get out , Call Capt. Petey at (757)256-6305 he has some walk on rates open throuought the end of the season but filling up fast.



Despite the Wind this past weekend we had some nice fish come to the scales:
Kevin Maples from Hampton weighed in a 43# citation
Tim Elliot from Hampton weighed in a 40#'er

This morning James Smith from Hampton brought in a  nice 45.8#'er to the scales.

The bite is definitely on if you can get out there and the EEls are getting the job done on the Cows.
Rockhound Charters had several trips this past weekend and we saw some nice fish at the cleaning station here at the shop. If you have opportunity to get out there around the holidays, now is the time to go! We just received a new shipment of Redi Rig bobbers in and have all the tackle you need here at the shop to help you get your citation.



By 9am this morning we had pictures sent to us via text of some nice fish taken.  The Bay looked fairly calm and the reports we had sounded great.  Rockhound Charters reported over 20 fish caught with keepers to 30+#s .  Most of the fish came casting to the 1st & 2nd Islands.  Way to go!!! and hope to weigh in some nice citations this weekend at the docks

Several Boats returned today with NICE catches of fish from Old Plantation Light area all the way to the High Rise.  The Eeelers seem to be producing the largest fish but the troll has been catching consistently too.  We weighed in 10 citations alone of which some of the larger fish were as follows:

Cliff from Hampton, VA 53#s which came on our Gourmet Wallace's EELS !!

Today was a nice day on the water, several boats came in for fuel today that were out fishing and we had reports of some nice fish today from The Plantation Light area on eels.  We also would like to welcome the Rockhound to the Back River.  Capt. Petey will be running Striped Bass Charters for the month of December from Wallace's.  The Rockhound has been hot this year so far as she "Sniffs out the Action!"

Between the WX, early in the week and the slower bite in the Lower Bay, we had not posted many reports however this past weekend fish were cuaght. 

Most of the Action is coming early in the day, just before sunrise around the CBBT Islands and Structures.  We had a few reports of nice fish caught during Those Lower light conditions on Live Eels casted to the stuctures as well as on jigs & bucktails. 

With the Beautiful day yesterday, it was no suprise that the anglers were out both eeling and trolling and many of them covered anywhere from 5-60 miles looking for the fish.  We had some nice reports of fish taken way up the Bay between 42 and the MD line as well as off the Coast of Delaware and NJ .  Hopefully we will see a bit colder temps later in the week that will drive more of those fish down the coast and down the Bay. 

On a positive note for the Lower Bay Anglers, we weighed in a few really nice Specks taken from the Hot Ditch where the bite is still strong.  Fish we saw ranged up to 27"  and just under 7lbs. 

There have been Rockfish weighed in as recent as today here at Wallace's to 44#s taken at the High Rise this am on Eels,  so get out there and remmber, Low Light, LIVE bait, slow presentations,  deeper water and Structure!!!!!  All combined and that should produce some nice fish for you. 

Last night was tough fishing.  We had reports from Capt. Petey on the Rockhound that the marks were laying low and not actively feeding but there are definitely big striped bass along the High Rise.  When they turn on .........it will be game on over there. 

Our crew worked the 4th, the 3rd and the Spines pretty good all night and could not get them to eat.  Although the wind machine kicked up a bit today, we had a few decent reports of fish both on the troll and on eels. We even weighed in a 44 lber this evening. Hopefully the next few nights will turn thoise big fish on. 

Well, the wind machine kept most of the anlgers home for the holiday.  Hopefully we'll see good reports as the weekends forcast is shaping up

Well, today was quiet for reports, I guess everyone was watching this blow coming in!  Enjoy that Turkey tomorrow because with the WX turning for the better it should be GAME ON for the Holiday weekend Friday -Sunday.  We're stocked up on EELS, hooks and Redi Rig Bobbers so get on in here and get ready for the action.  Randy is in the shop on Turkey day from 5:30a to noon .
